Fund Raising Tea Party a Big Success

Local Fiveways resident, Sarah Fitzpatrick held a tea party on Sunday 22nd June for Marie Curie Cancer Care as part of The Blooming Great Tea Party event to celebrate 60 years of the charity. It was a traditional tea party with tea cosies, cake stands, loose leaf tea and china cups and antique tablecloths. The day was a resounding success; about 60 people attended and ate and ate and anything they couldn't eat they took home in cake boxes donated by the local bakers. Sarah also held a raffle and managed to get about 15 local businesses to donate prizes including hotel stays, restaurant vouchers and cinema tickets as well as an antique teapot. The event was also sponsored by Tesco who paid for all the ingredients and provided a member of staff to help out at the event. In total £400 was raised and everyone who attended seemed to have a lovely time too. Sarah is still recovering but claims to have had fun too!!
