Your Police Contact
Name: Chris Lane
Rank: Police Sergeant
Time in Police: 9 Years
Why you became a policeman:
After spending several years working winter seasons in ski resorts, I decided that enough was enough and that I needed to settle down. By chance I got a temp job at the police headquarters in Lewes. The second day I was there I spent most of the day chatting with a constable of 29 years service and was enthralled by his stories of life in the police. He was brutally honest and did not paint a false picture, giving it to me warts and all. By the end of the day I'd decided that it was the job I was looking for and applied soon after. That was over nine years ago and I have never looked back, not once have I had the dreaded feeling of not wanting to go to work that I had experienced with all of the other jobs I had done previously. I feel truly priviliged to be doing a job that I love and never take it for granted.
What do you want to achieve from your position for Fiveways:
I've been a patrol officer in East Brighton for all of my service. Most of this has been spent covering Preston and Fiveways and prior to being promoted three years ago I was a community constable for the same area for over 3 1/2 years. I'm passionate about providing a quality service to the local community and take it personally when problems occur such as a high level of a particular type of crime. In terms of what I what to achieve: I want to keep providing and facilitating an excellent service to the community and will do my level best to keep crime and anti-social behaviour to it's current low levels in the area.
