Your Police Contact

Rob Leet

Name:  Rob Leet

Rank:  Police Sergeant

Time in Police: 11 Years

Why you became a policeman:

Before I joined Sussex Police I worked for 4 years in London as a criminal justice clerk for the Transport Police. It gave me a great insight into what being a police officer involved. Having worked in office jobs for 6 years or so, I wanted to do something which was varied and more exciting. It is often said that being a police officer is more of a vocation than a job and I think that is true. Policing is a job in which you can gain a great degree of job satisfaction, particularly by helping people and succesfully addressing issues which are important to the Community. I enjoy the variety of work I do and it is really heartening to work alongside local residents who are supportive and passionate about their area.

What do you want to achieve from your position for Fiveways:

I have spent the whole of my career in Brighton & Hove and the majority of that time has been spent working as a community officer in some form. I have worked in the Fiveways area for the last four years. The great thing about this area is that it has all the hallmarks of what a great Community should be - a variety of shops, lovely open spaces, churches, schools, community groups and a terrfic sense of pride amongst many residents. One of the biggest challenges over the last few years has been to direct the pride and comittment of local people so that we are all working as one towards a common goal - that of making the area an even better place to live. The Preston Park & Fiveways Local Action Team was established to help facilitate this in a way that people could make their voices heard, gain answers to their questions and have a vehicle with which to take their issues forward.
